The Death of the "Larry McDonald" Democrat and the Rise of the Ultra Liberal Left

Here is one political fantasy that was finally exposed last Sunday night: The myth of the moderate Democrat. They don't exist anymore. All Democrats are liberals -- that's how they vote. If that's your political persuasion -- fine -- but lets stop kidding ourselves in the press and cease labeling some as "middle of the road" or "blue dog" Democrats. It's nonsense: when push comes to shove, they're all Pelosi liberals. Sunday night proved it out.
The days when there were Democrats who refused to follow their liberal party leaders are over, dead and forgotten. They are extinct, defunct creatures, gone the way of the horse-drawn carriage. Those who espouse their "moderate" views around election time are mere actors in a play. When the show's over, they vote with the leftist majority of their leadership. Every time. So stop insulting our intelligence in the press. Call yourself what you are: liberals. If you get re-elected, more power to you. But you won't name yourself, because you'll lose. So it’s a bait and switch folly that defies reason.
Here's the bottom line: Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid knew they had the votes all the time. That's why President Barack Obama pushed so hard for his healthcare bill. Defeat was never in the cards. All the machinations of so-called "moderate" Democrats were a circus sideshow to divert attention off the deep flaws embedded in that bill.
Evidently, some self-proclaimed moderates commanded slightly higher bribes for their votes, but that's it.
There are only two versions of national politician now: Democrats and Republicans.
So now what?
It's now or never. Now is the time for action. The recently passed healthcare reform package -- rammed down the throats of Americans who poll after poll showed opposed it -- is a hodgepodge of poorly thought out mandates that will launch the deficit into the stratosphere while failing to remedy the fundamental challenges of health care in this country. You can call the Obama plan, or the Democrat plan, but now it's the U.S plan. Until we change it.
Here's our blueprint for wiping it off the books.
First, we must elect a Republican majority in Congress in 2010. That means we need to capture 40 Democrat-held seats. A tall order, but well within reach.
Second, the new GOP majority must restore the Medicare cuts mandated in this bill, and then overturn the 21 percent reduction of physicians' fees that will become law in October. These cuts will compel doctors and care centers to follow the lead of the Mayo Clinic -- they now refuse to take Medicare patients.
Third, strip away the funding. Once conservatives gain a majority in both chambers, they can refuse to fund Obamacare in appropriations. The bill passed by the Congress on the table to be signed by the President this week is merely an authorization measure. The dollars to pay for it have to be approved each year. By refusing to allocate the funds to pay for, Congress can kill it.
Fourth, repeal it. That can only be accomplished if the GOP controls the executive branch, along with the full Congress.
Finally, replace this bill with a Republican alternative that is based on the free market system, and not command and control. This should combine extensive include tax incentives with individual accountability clauses.
