ARTS

Through June 19
   Roswell Visual Arts Center Annual Student Show, showcasing the talents of youth and adult students in all media.

   Clay Classes at the Roswell Art Center West, 1355 Woodstock Rd. 
   Day and evening classes, offered for beginning to advanced students, include hand building and wheel as well as mold making, garden vessels, figurative sculpture, raku and soda firing and more.
   Classes meet weekly for 4 to 8 weeks and enrolled students may work in the center during open studio time.

   Downtown Alpharetta Farmers Market from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Old Roswell St. and Jones Ave. (Jones Ave. is located across Main St. from the Alpharetta City Hall).
   The market will feature local fresh produce, baked goods, plants, local raw honey and more.

   The Cherokee Chapter of the Georgia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution meeting at 7 p.m. at the Historic Rock Barn, 638 Marietta Hwy., Canton.

   Magnolia Ball for the Preservation of Bulloch Hall at The Country Club of the South, Alpharetta.
   The evening begins with cocktails, entertainment, a silent auction with gifts donated by local businesses and individuals followed by dinner and dancing to the fabulous music of “Celebration.”

   “A Night Out With Nature” Gala from 6:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Rd., Roswell.
   Guests will enjoy an exclusive tour of the new Interpretive Center Museum, an open bar, a three-course seated dinner, a spectacular live auction and native wildlife demonstrations served with beautiful music throughout the evening.
   Individual tickets are $300.  Funds raised support the center’s environmental education, conservation and wildlife rehabilitation.

   141st Annual Alpharetta June Singing from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Alpharetta City Hall, 2 South Main St.
   The event consists of an informal network of people interested in participating in and promoting singing from the Sacred Harp and other shape note books.  Newcomers are always welcome, regardless of singing ability or religious affiliation.  You can also go just to listen and experience a piece of American Culture.

   Wine and Cheese Preview Fundraising Party to toast and tour the New Discovery Center at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Rd., Roswell from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
   Enjoy a self guided tour of the new Discovery Center, which is dedicated to “telling the story of the Chattahoochee.”  Stroll the beautiful gardens while listening to music and enjoy gourmet cheeses and wine.  Tickets are $25 per person

   “Smart Choices in Retirement” Seminar hosted by financial advisor Jennifer Heal at the Edward Jones Office, 2500 Old Alabama Rd., Suite 22, Roswell.
   Participants will learn 10 principles to help them make their money last in retirement, with the goal of providing a stable, steady retirement income.

   “Supplements Smarts” Lecture at the Roswell Library, 115 Norcross St. 
   The lecture will be offered at 11:10 a.m. and again at 1:10 p.m.  In addition, blood pressure testing will be available after the first lecture starting at NOON.
   The lecture speaker will be Ellen Honea, a pharmacist from North Fulton Regional Hospital.  She will discuss dietary supplements and explain the more popular ones, such as calcium, in depth.
   The program is free and open to the public.  Reservations for the lecture are suggested.

   Amateur Radio Field Day hosted by the North Fulton Amateur Radio League at Waller Park Extension, 160 Dobbs Dr., Roswell.
   The free 24-hour event starts at 2 p.m. Saturday.  Amateur radio operators will show you their emergency capabilities.  See the latest technology in radio gear communicating to other ham stations across the world using the new digital modes, as well as voice and morse code.  Participate as a guest.

   “The Wizard of Oz” Puppet Show presented by Frisch Marionette Company at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest St., Roswell.
   Show times are Mon - Thur at 10 a.m., Fridays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m.

   “Caught on the Hop” by Derek Benfield at Kudzu Playhouse, 10743 Alpharetta Hwy., Roswell.
   Impressionable Phil announces he has fallen for a girl on the top of a 49 bus and intends to divorce his wife and go live with his new girlfriend in the house next door.  A frenetic confusion of mistaken identities, plotting and counterplotting that ever erupted on a quiet summer’s day in the suburbs.

   “The Producers” by Mel Brooks at The Rosewater Theatre, 633 Holcomb Bridge Rd., Roswell.
   This classic cult comedy film won twelve Tony Awards.  The plot is simple:  a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars.  Only one thing goes awry:  the show is a smash hit!
   Rated PG-13 for adult content.  Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.  Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors (plus tax) for Friday and Saturday and $16 (plus tax) for the Sunday performance.

   Chattahoochee Volleyball Camp for girls from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. each day.
   The camp is open to girls ages 10 through 10th grade, and will be held at Chattahoochee High School, 5230 Taylor Rd., Alpharetta.
