Crash Into Mailbox Ends Car Chase in Milton
In the early morning hours of June 16, a Milton police officer was involved in a car chase with a drunk driver.
In the early morning hours of June 16, a Milton police officer was involved in a car chase with a drunk driver. The officer heard a loud car stereo but he couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Upon further investigation, he found the sounds emanating from a silver Ford Explorer. The officer also noticed that the vehicle was going almost 80 MPH on a road with a 45 MPH limit. As the officer’s car drew closer to the suspect vehicle, the Explorer turned off its headlights. The Explorer attempted to escape the officer by driving through a neighborhood, but the driver slammed his car into a stone mailbox.
The officer quickly put the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jonathan Hill, in custody. The officer put Hill in the back of his police car while he investigated the scene. When the officer came back to talk to Hill, he noticed the handcuffed suspect was talking on his cell phone. While on his phone, Hill was overheard saying, “I was in a high speed chase and wrecked the car. I’m going to jail.” While he was being questioned, Hill admitted to the officer that he had been arrested twice for DUI and once for underage possession. When the officer asked Hill if he had planned on stopping the Explorer during the pursuit, Hill was very candid with his answer, “I was going to go until I died.” Hill also told the officer that he was hoping for a more dramatic end to the chase.
Hill was arrested for DUI, reckless driving, too fast for conditions, fleeing an officer, having an expired tag, failure to maintain lane, excessive volume from radio or stereo, underage possession and not having his headlights on before sunrise.
HE'S GOT SOME ANGER ISSUES
On June 20, police were called to the Alpharetta Taco Mac in reference to a disorderly customer. According to the manager, shortly after the restaurant made last call, a guest walked up to a table of patrons and started talking trash.
The trash-talking guest, identified as Richard Parker, jumped on a booth directly behind the table of people and started to fight one of the customers from behind. At that point, the manager pulled Parker off the booth and told him to leave. After getting kicked out, Parker took his frustrations out on several inanimate objects outside. Parker ripped a plant out of a flowerbed, he punched a “for lease” sign and he shook a light post so violently that the cover and bulb came crashing to the ground. Parker did not deny any of this and he even showed the police some fresh cuts on his knuckles that came from his punching the ‘for lease’ sign. Parker, 20, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
HANGING OUT AT THE POOL
On June 19, police were called to the swimming pool in the Horseshoe Bend subdivision in reference to a person who may have been showing inappropriate body parts. According to a witness, the offender, identified as Thomas Morrison, had a ripped bathing suit and he was “letting himself hang out.” By the time police arrived, Morrison had already left the pool and gone back to his house, which is where police headed. When police questioned Morrison, he said that he went to the pool and got a beer. He said a male came up to him and told him that his shorts were ripped and that he was exposing himself.
Morrison told police that he had no idea how or when his shorts became ripped. Police told Morrison that a witness told them that Morrison bought the beer and then sat down in a chair, spreading his legs wide open, leaving nothing to the imagination. The witness then asked Morrison to leave the pool and Morrison asked the witness why he had to leave. When the witness explained that he was exposing himself, Morrison left the pool area. After police interviewed Morrison, they noted that he did not seem intoxicated, but he seemed indifferent to the situation.
Morrison was given a citation for public indecency.
