Sip Wine Announces New Winter Menu, Specialty Wine Dinners and New Year’s Eve Event

Sip Wine Tasting & Tapas Restaurant announces a new Winter menu, Specialty Wine dinners and New Year’s Eve event. Sip Wine retail shop has recently expanded to include a restaurant and wine bar -  featuring tapas style menu items offered for lunch & dinner and over 100 wines.  Sip boasts an open kitchen - which takes center stage - where customers may watch chefs prepare their food.  Sip also offers more than 50 wines by the sip, half-glass, or full glass from the wine bar and automated Enomatic machines.  Sip offers 200 wines by the bottle in the retail shop - which can be purchased and enjoyed in the restaurant or taken home.

Foster Smith, co-owner & managing partner says, “We’ve rolled out about ten new seasonal tapas menu items and have had incredible feedback so far.  The only downside is that we’ve taken away some favorites - but don’t worry they’ll be back in the Spring! The new tapas items are perfect for the Winter months - it gives us a chance to create dishes and try some other things.  We’re limited to the number of small plate offerings we have, so we have to rotate some items off.”

The new Winter menu includes tapas items that have incredible flavors that entice the palate and are paired with some great wines that really have seasonal appeal.  Menu items include Short Rib Osso Buco with baby root vegetables, the BBQ Pork Tacos with Granny Smith apple slaw, Brussels Sprout salad, Duck Confit Wontons, Grilled Thai Chicken with Asian slaw,  Sweet Potato Gnocchi and a Georgia Peach cobbler.  Each tapas dish is paired with a wine that brings out the flavors not only in the food, but also in the wine to give people a chance to experience what a wine maker & chef are trying to do with flavors.

“We’ve also started to do special wine dinners that incorporate a theme - like a South American Wine pairing with tapas dishes from that country and  have created a great themed dinner in an effort to educate people and allow them to experience something different,”  Smith says.  Tapas pairings have included themes from countries including Italy, South America and France.  “Chef Daniel & I have really had fun working on these events - it’s been great to experiment with different flavors with food & wine to bring together an incredible cultural experience.  Daniel has done a remarkable job with the dinners. We are looking forward to our next event - and some great specials - which will happen on New Year’s Eve.”

Sip will feature an unlimited Tapas menu that evening for $50 per person and unlimited wine pairing can be added for $30 per person.  Customers can also pair their own wines - which of course can be purchased separately.  A live jazz band featuring Phil West will begin at 9pm. The evening will also feature a New Year’s Champagne toast at midnight. Limited Seating - call for reservations after 9p.m.

New Year’s Traditions at Crabapple Tavern

The tradition of serving collard greens and black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day is a Southern tradition that has been honored by folks for decades. This New Year’s the Crabapple Tavern is open and serving them hot all day. Everyone has their opinion about the proper way to slow cook the peas and greens and the real meaning of each dish. Dating back to the Civil War, and carried on throughout the years, this ritual may be more important this year than times past. Considering our weak economy and the difficult times that we are experiencing, taking time to sit down with family and friends to comfort food that represents good fortune is a “Good Thing.”

Not only are we saying good-bye to another year, but another decade. And some say it was the worst decade ever. As 2010 approaches, we anticipate a healthy and renewed economy that brings peace, health and financial stability to everyone.

We take this time to thank our loyal patrons for their support and friendship. We look forward to seeing you this holiday season and through the coming year.

Happy New Year from all of us at Crabapple Tavern.

Celebrating with Ru Sans

The owners and managers at Ru San’s in Milton – Yasa, Tim, and Kent – weren’t the original “Three Wise Men,” but if you’re new to sushi (or even well experienced), they’re more valuable than gold, or myrrh or frankincense. For the novice and expert alike, their gifts of wisdom add delight to your visit.

Ru San’s innumerable variations of sushi, countless styles of sashimi (as well as other well cooked and seasoned fare) and more than ten kinds of sake can make the head spin. For many people, who aren’t aficionados, the breadth of offerings can make you dizzy.

That’s where Yasa, Tim and Kent can really assist, helping you pair a taste of this with a bit of that, each flavor complemented by the warming sake that perfectly balances and enhances every bite.

If there’s no place like home for the holidays, then there’s really no place like Ru San’s for sushi. No place this side of Japan anyway.

And this month, coincidental to the holidays, join in the first anniversary celebration with discounts throughout the month.
Happy Holidays from Ru Sans!

We Wish You A Welly Christmas & A Healthy New Year!

By Jemille Williams, Marketing Director for Zenergize Wellness Spa

Stress levels are up--in inverse proportion to stock portfolios and real estate values. Everyone I speak to is either out of work, painfully underemployed, or a downsizing survivor doing the work of two or three. Yesterday I went in for an oil change, and was reminded that I’m 9,000 miles overdue for my preventive maintenance. I kept putting it off until I can get ahead in my budget. To add insult to injury, they told me I had to get my brakes fixed, too, and if I waited another week, my rotors would have damaged, doubling my cost. Phew!

What a metaphor for the wonderful machine we call our body! We pay when it breaks down, but can’t seem to justify the preventive maintenance. I’m sure when my 31-year old father realized he was dying from a heart attack, he wished he had taken the time to have been checked out by a doctor and had spent more time relaxing with his beloved four-year old daughter who sat there witnessing his passing! Thank goodness this extreme outcome is far outside the norm, but I am certain that my wellness dollars are an investment in the future of my children and my as-yet-unborn grandchildren. Juggling my bills, my budget is stretched to the breaking point, yet I consider my massage dollars money well spent even when I pay the annuity penalty to make those premature withdrawals from my IRA. A recent study showed that people under stress (is there anyone out there who doesn’t fit in that box?) spend 83 percent more on medical intervention than those who are managing that stress with physical and psychological self-care like massage, chiropractic, and exercise.  More than a case of "pay me now or pay me later," it's a sure thing that leading a healthful lifestyle will save money in the long term.

I have long known that massage helps my weak heart circulate the blood and lymph throughout my body, lessening the strain on it. I am thoroughly convinced that each and every massage extends my life, but only recently did I realize that taking an hour off for a relaxing facial was supporting my wellness and prolonging my life, as well. Virtually no one disputes the mind/body connection.

When people say you look much younger than your years or compliment your smooth complexion, it stimulates your serotonin receptors, bathing your system in restorative hormones.  If you doubt that, consider the converse: you run a red light, and then your rearview mirror is filled with blue ones. You can feel that cortisol to the very tips of your fingers and toes! It’s palpable--not conjectural! It’s not an exaggeration to say that this New Year may be met with more trepidation than any of the past several decades.  Let’s all make a resolution to do our best to take care of our best and closest friend--our body! Google "Massage in Roswell" and see where Zenergize comes in on the organic searches. Don’t take our word for it that we are North Fulton’s Greenest & Greatest Spa!  Read some of the 50 glowing reviews and resolve to make 2010 the year you make your wellness your #1 priority! To learn more about how we can support you in that resolution, email us at zenergize@bellsouth.net.
