Vision, Mission and Editorial Philosophy

Vision Statement

To enrich the lives of our readers and expand the reach of our advertisers with smartly targeted and relevant news analysis, timely in-depth investigative reporting, compelling high school sports coverage, hard hitting columns and insightful op-ed.

Mission Statement

The Beacon Broadcast Network (BBN) focuses on state news, politics, high school sports and diverse op-ed viewpoints on its opinion pages.

The news is state-wide, but what sets BBN apart is its focus on news analysis: what the news really means to our readers. No other media outlet provides any of BBN's four main focal points. BBN does investigating reporting when appropriate and does not shy away from tackling the most controversial issues as warranted. It serves as an important government and political watchdog in the Atlanta Metro area.

BBN serves up its news and analysis in a digital on-line environment that is supported by an opt-in subscriber only E-newsletter delivered daily in HTML format.

Beaconcast.com is a destination site where 64 percent of its readers have it bookmarked.

Editorial Philosophy

The Beacon Broadcast Network (BBN) maintains a fair and balanced editorial approach to all news and analysis. On its opinion pages, BBN takes a predominately politically conservative viewpoint on most issues. BBN's editors are intensely suspect of big government and most concerned about the erosion of personal freedom, especially at the municipal government level. BBN holds elected public officials, whether they be Republican, Democrat, Independent or non-partisan equally accountable for wasting tax-payers' dollars, not delivering on campaign promises and ethics violations.
