John Grady is a lucky man.

He was one of a handful of contest winners who were able to meet British rock band Muse in Roswell.

The Marietta man was the grandprize winner of a raffle contest held by the 99X radio station. He won tickets to see every concert over the summer, including bands such as Snow Patrol, Metallica, Blink 182, Kings of Leon, Muse and U2. Included in the prize were events such as the Muse meet-and-greet and several nights’ stay at the Hyatt Regency downtown.

“I’m a longtime listener,” said Grady. “It’s my main station and I’m glad it’s back.”

Grady and several other radio listeners were treated last week to Muse stopping by Roswell’s famous Andretti’s racetrack and, after signing CD’s and photos for the fans, took to the track in go-carts and raced to their heart’s content before taking to the stage later in the day, opening for U2 at the Georgia Dome.

Andretti’s is revamping their cart racing, adding a whole new fleet of vehicles and playing host to parties and corporate events with their large games room, indoor racetrack and adjoining Ethyl’s restaurant. 

  
99X is an alternative rock station that has recently returned to the airwaves after a brief hiatus on 97.9FM. While a bit confusing, the new 99X on its new channel has reclaimed its loyal listeners with events such as meeting Muse and having a visible presence at many of the concerts in the area.
