As small businesses fight the current economy, Zerorez, Atlanta-based carpet cleaning company, has experienced a 35 percent profit growth over the past nine months. Steve Colton, the owner of the Zerorez franchise in Atlanta, attributes some of the growth to the economy and the company’s unique and sustainable products and services because “homeowners want to preserve what they have and not buy, and also want to be involved in the green movement.”

The trend for homeowners is home improvement and maintenance.  “Our customers are looking for value but don’t want to sacrifice their quality standards,” said Colton. Over time, Colton’s clients save money because Zerorez’s chemical-free system eliminates residue left behind by standard carpet cleaners and keeps carpets clean for about six months longer. Whether homeowners are painting bedrooms or attempting ‘do-it yourself’ kitchen makeovers, the inclination is to keep a comfortable and affordable home while avoiding expensive replacements.

Monique Lake of Alpharetta, Ga. said, “We actually replaced our carpet prior to your cleaning, and I feel Zerorez probably could have saved it. The technician even got a stain out that I was not even expecting to be removed. I have told my friends and neighbors about your service.”

According to Colton, the FDA-approved water system designed by Kennesaw-based EAU technologies, called Empowered Water, is the technology behind Zerorez.  Empowered Water is breaking ground with its chemical-free and eco-friendly approach to cleaning and eliminating harmful pathogens in the home. “Empowered Water is the tipping point of Zerorez’s success because our customers are environmentally conscious and we provide a sustainable approach to cleaning,” Colton said.  “I was intrigued by Empowered Water and how versatile the product was. I thought this is a revolutionary way to clean.”

Before starting Zerorez in Norcross, Ga., Colton enjoyed a 15-year marketing career working for top companies including Ciba Vision, Gerber Baby Food, Johnson & Johnson and General Mills. After a full career in corporate America, Colton decided to begin a new business venture with Zerorez. From Colton’s marketing experience, he understood what makes a company successful – its resilience and uniqueness – and believed Zerorez encompassed both of those essentials.

Zerorez is qualified to clean commercial carpet, upholstery and fabric, rugs and textiles and offers water restoration, carpet repair and reinstallation and master carpet cleaning. Zerorez is certified by the Institute of Inspection and Cleaning Restoration (IICRC), the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) which includes mold remediation and the National Wood Flooring Association.
