Igleheart Clings to 16 Vote Lead

Does one vote matter? Maybe not. But 16 do. That is incumbent Roswell Councilman Kent Igleheart’s margin of victory out of over 10,000 votes cast over challenger Jim Pollak. As is customary, Pollak has requested a recount.

Does one vote matter? Maybe not. But 16 do. That is incumbent Roswell Councilman Kent Igleheart’s margin of victory out of over 10,000 votes cast over challenger Jim Pollak. As is customary, Pollak has requested a recount.

The result is not likely to change, however, as Roswell has electronic ballots, and aside from absentee votes, no paper or “hanging chads” are involved. Igleheart’s election is expected to be certified by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office early next week.

Pollak, who in the end essentially based his campaign hopes on a barrage of negative ads attacking Igleheart personally for his financial woes, lost by 1/200th of one percent.

“I came within 16 votes of defeating the incumbent. That’s pretty phenomenal and I am pleased with that result,” Pollak said, in apparent defeat.

Pollak said he plans to request a recount, and will not concede the race until that takes place. “I think the principal is that it would not be responsible if I didn’t ask for a recount,” Pollak stated.

Commenting on his future, Pollak said it’s way too early to tell what’s next. “I want to close the chapter on this and there’ll be plenty of time to think about what comes next,” Pollak added.
