PRIVLEDGED RESOLUTION FOR TOP SCOUT:

Johns Creek resident Alex Grapenthin got an official tip of the hat from city council for moving into the elite ranks of Girl Scouts, earning the Gold Award.  That’s the highest award for scouts aged 14 to 18, and only about five percent of Girl Scouts earn it.

Alex Grapenthin receives her privileged resolution from Mayor Mike Bodker.

She planned and implemented a craft program at North Fulton Foster Care Center for her Gold Award project.

MIDYEAR BUDGET AS EXPECTED:

The council officially adopted the business-friendly midyear budget that got a preliminary nod at a work session last month.  The budget reduces: taxes; alcoholic beverage license fees; and planning, zoning and community development fees.

MARTA MONEY FOR PEDESTRIANS:

Johns Creek will use $1,750,000 in money from MARTA to improve pedestrian accessibility and trail amenities along Highway 141, under an intergovernmental agreement also formally adopted last week.  The $1.75 million ultimately comes from the federal government; it’s part of the stimulus money that the Atlanta Regional Commission essentially fronted to MARTA last year when it was in an even tighter financial spot than now.  In return, MARTA now has to fund some transportation-linked improvements in the metro.
