JOHNS CREEK
Officials in Johns Creek say lightning struck a gas line in the north Fulton County community during a thunderstorm, and nearby residents were evacuated.
The lightning struck Monday morning as the storm moved through the area. Officials say the home where the gas line was located caught fire. Firefighters evacuated several homes in the neighborhood until the gas line could be shut down.
Officials say the lightning struck at a house on Hillgate Crossing near Abbotts Bridge Road.
Atlanta Gas Light crews shut off the gas line shortly after 8 a.m. and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
