Milton High School drama students provided a big shot-in-the-arm to the Alpharetta American Legion Post’s ongoing program to send packages to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The students recently presented the play “A Piece of My Heart” by Shirley Lauro and dedicated a portion of the proceeds to the legion program for the troops. In addition, they placed a donation box for patrons during each of the three performances.
At the November 17 meeting of the Legion, the students, along with their drama teacher Renee Denney, stage manager Sim Jones and parent assistant Chris Ward, presented the Legion with the proceeds totaling $1,287.
According to Legion Post Commander Bob Byrd, “Our entire membership is deeply touched by this expression of concern and recognition of our troops serving in harm’s way.”
