On November 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the Milton High School Auditorium, Milton drama club will be performing "A Piece of My Heart" followed by the Milton High School Wind Ensemble performing patriotic music. This is a free concert and open to the public.

As before "A Piece of My Heart” by Shirley Lauro is a powerful true story of six women who served in Vietnam, five nurses and a country-western singer booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops. The play portrays each woman before, during and after her tour of duty and ends with each leaving their personal token at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. The Wind Ensemble concert will immediately follow the play and will open with an extraordinarily impressive arrangement of “Dona Nobis Pacem,” and continue with musical memories of the World War II era titled Homefront. A patriotic march will add an additional touch of military band sound to the performance, followed by one of the most celebrated works for band, “American Salute,” based on “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” The concert will conclude with our traditional “Armed Forces Salute,” recognizing all branches of the military and those in attendance that served.

Donations of items such as toiletries, non-perishable foods, snacks, coffee, books and magazines will be collected the night of the concert and play to be donated to the American Legion Post 201’s ongoing program of sending Care Packages to our troops engaged in the war on terror.
