In an e-mail to supporters, Jones says the final chapter in his political career "has yet to be written.''
Another e-mail sent by his communications director Camille Kessler says Jones has been getting a lot of e-mail about running for governor and is considering all the feedback.
Jones ran for the Democratic nomination to take on Georgia's U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss last year. He lost a primary runoff to former state legislator Jim Martin. Martin eventually lost to Chambliss.
Four Democrats and six Republicans are already running to replace Gov. Sonny Perdue when his second term expires.
