Alpharetta Knocks Off Undefeated Duluth

Mt. Pisgah 7-6 over Southwest Atlanta Christian

Alpharetta Pounds Duluth 44-19

Don't tell the Alpharetta Raiders about history because they don't care. With Duluth off to its best start since 1985, Alpharetta went on the road Friday night and crushed the Wildcats 44-19. Raiders QB Mikal Abdul-Saboor ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more in the win.

Abdul-Saboor silenced the raucous Duluth crowd early when he scrambled 63 yards for a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. Abdul-Saboor then tacked onto the Raider lead late in the first quarter when he hit Jack Goss with a 7-yard touchdown pass to give Alpharetta a 14-0 lead.

The versatile Abdul-Saboor finished with 104 yards and three touchdowns on the ground while ending the night with 176 yards and two touchdown passes through the air.

Mt. Pisgah 7-6 over Southwest Atlanta Christian

One first half touchdown was all the Mt. Pisgah Patriots needed to improve to 3-0 for the first time in the school's GHSA history.

Senior wide receiver Danny Schneider scored on a touchdown pass from Ryan Felice in the first half, a touchdown that proved to be the difference in the game. The only other score came in the fourth quarter when Southwest Atlanta Christian (SWAC) stripped a Patriot offensive player and returned the ensuing fumble for a touchdown.

SWAC decided to go for two, but Mt. Pisgah made the pivotal stop and held on to win the game 7-6.

Harrison Hangs 24 First half Points on Milton in Win

After putting up over 40 points in week one, the Milton offense has slowed down considerably. Against Harrison Friday night, the Eagles fell behind 24-7 in the first half before losing 31-13.

Milton had no answer for Harrison running back Ryan Godhigh, who carried the ball 20 times for 170 yards. For Godhigh, all but 12 yards came in the first three quarters, where he carried the ball 13 times while scoring two touchdowns. Milton senior quarterback Joe Vance scored on a 1-yard sneak in the third quarter to cut the Hoya lead to 24-13; however, the Eagles were unable to convert any other future scoring opportunities.

Centennial Smoked by Carrollton

Carrollton was undefeated coming into the game and they showed why Friday night. The Trojans piled up seven touchdowns on Centennial en route to a 49-14 victory.

The lone highlights for the Knights were touchdowns by quarterback Sean Gilrain and Cameron Malone.

Northview Knocked off by South Cobb

South Cobb scored a touchdown on its opening drive and the Eagles never looked back en route to a 28-13 victory over Northview on Friday night.

Northview had a tough time containing South Cobb starting quarterback Johntavious Mullins. Mullins capped the Eagles first drive of the night with a 40-yard touchdown run that put South Cobb up 7-0 in the first quarter. Minutes later, South Cobb would strike again. The Titans defense forced an Eagles punt, but Northview muffed the ball on the return and South Cobb recovered the fumble. The Eagles made Northview pay for the mistake two plays later when Mullins hit wide receiver Germaine Beatty with a 32-yard touchdown strike.

Northview got a much needed spark on the ensuing kickoff when T.J. Brown returned it 88 yards to the house. The Titans offense cut the lead to one with just over a minute left in the first half when running back Denis Onwualu scored from nine yards out.

The Titans only left one minute on the first half clock for South Cobb, but it was enough for the Eagles to score. After a kickoff return to the Northview 48, Mullins directed the Eagles 48 yards in 51 seconds for a touchdown. The drive was capped by a Mullins to Demarcus Adkins 10-yard touchdown pass that put South Cobb up 20-13 with nine seconds left in the second quarter.

The South Cobb defense held Northview scoreless in the second half to preserve the win.
