Five Eagles Hit Double Digits as Milton Dismantles Centennial

After Friday's game against state No. 1 Milton, Centennial head coach Joe Eineker would probably be the first one to admit that there's no stopping the Eagles.

In December, Eineker watched his talented Knight squad drop a 96-58 decision to Milton. On Friday, it was more of the same. Five Milton players reached double digits as Milton stayed undefeated in region play with a dominating 76-48 win over Centennial.

Milton's big three of Julian Royal, Shannon Scott and Dai Jon Parker, but it was the sometimes overlooked Jordan Loyd who had the biggest night of all.

Loyd led the Eagles with 18 points, including 14 points in the first half.

The game was tight after one quarter, with Milton only on top 20-15, but in quarter two, Loyd and Evan Nolte took over. The pair combined to score 11 of Milton's 19 second quarter points, an output that helped push the Eagles to a 39-23 halftime lead.

On two different occasions in the second half, Centennial trimmed the lead down to 11, but the Knights could get no closer.

In the scoring department, Centennial was led by their senior duo of Jeffrey Nobles and Nathan Harries. Nobles finished the night with 12 points, while Harries added 10.

On the Milton end of things, the Eagles had several players who filled up the stat sheet. Loyd had five rebounds and four assists to go along with his 18 points. Dai Jon Parker chipped in 13 points and five assists.  Julian Royal was a force underneath the basket with five blocks, the senior also scored 15 points. Shaquille Johnson and Evan Nolte also reached double digits. Johnson finished the game with 10, while Nolte's night ended with 15.

Next up for the Eagles (18-2, 8-0) is a home game against North Forsyth. As for a suddenly reeling Centennial (8-10, 4-3) team – they've lost three in a row – they'll head to Roswell Tuesday for a game that all of the sudden becomes important for both teams. The winner will have the inside track at the three seed in the region tournament.

Lady Eagles Coast to Win Against Centennial

Milton has one of the best defenses in Region 6-AAAAA and Friday, Centennial got a first-hand glimpse of the stingy Lady Eagle D. Milton managed to shutout the Lady Knights in the first quarter Friday (11-0) en route to a 48-31 win.

Centennial didn't score their first bucket of the game until Lindsey Rosenberg hit a shot at the 6:40 mark of the second quarter. By the time Centennial hit their third bucket of the night, Milton was already up 21-5 and the game was all but over.

Nikki Dixon was the defensive catalyst for Milton. The senior had six steals in the game, including five in the first half that turned into eight Milton points. The Lady Eagles star also added 12 points to the Milton scoring cause.

Geo Simms, who ended the game with 13 points, led Milton in the scoring department. Geo's sister Tru also had a solid game, the senior scored seven and dished out five assists.

Despite the blowout, Rebecca Davis kept the Centennial fans interested in the second half. The Lady Knight freshman drained four 3-pointers during a 14-0 Centennial run that trimmed Milton's 30-point third quarter lead down to 16. Davis finished the night with 13 points.

Centennial (3-11, 2-5), will be back in action Tuesday when the travel to Roswell while Milton will play host to North Forsyth.
