Grahek leads Milton Boys Golf Team to Third Place Finish at State

The final results of Monday's state golf tournament weren't a surprise to anyone that's been following the high school golf scene this year. Harrison, No. 1 in the final regular season state poll, out dueled No. 2 Greenbrier in a one-hole playoff to take the team title. Both teams finished the tournament with an 8-over par 296.

Just because the top two teams in the state finished one-two doesn't mean there weren't any surprises though. On a rainy day at the Reynolds Plantation Landing course in Greensboro, Milton's Patrick Grahek played the round of his life. The Eagle junior shot a 4-under par 68 to take the low medalist honors as the individual with the best round.

Grahek's 68 propelled the Region 6-AAAAA champ Eagles to an overall third place finish at state. Milton tied Norcross for third, both schools shot a 15-over 303.

Grahek and teammates Tyler Gruca and Sanders Park were all named to the All-Region 6 team last week.
