Kings Ridge Prediction
Breech's bet on King's Ridge
Here's the weirdest statistic of the year: Region 5-A (the Tiger's region) has almost as many teams as King's Ridge has players. There are 15 teams in the region, King's Ridge will be suiting up 23 players in 2010.
Its been six years since a team made the jump from the Georgia Independent School Association to the GHSA playoffs (Eagle's Landing Christian Academy made the playoffs in 2004 in their first year playing a GHSA schedule). So right away the odds are stacked against King's Ridge. However, there are a few things in their favor, like the region setup.
All the Tiger's have to do is finish third in their seven-team sub-region (5N-A). If they do that, they'll play the second place team from Region 5S-A for the right to go to the playoffs. With Holy Innocents and Wesleyan probably taking the top two spots in the sub-region, King's Ridge coach Jeff Pickren knows it's going to be a dogfight for spot third place.
I'm an optimist, but I'm also a realist, so I'm going to let the realist in me make this prediction.
King's Ridge finishes 3-7, fifth in Region 5N-A.
