Mt. Pisgah Boy's Basketball Team on Roll Heading into Sub-Region Play
Having already won as many games as they did all of last season (12) the Mount Pisgah Christian School boy’s basketball team is looking to stay hot heading into this week’s sub-region play.
Having already won as many games as they did all of last season (12) the Mount Pisgah Christian School boy’s basketball team is looking to stay hot heading into this week’s sub-region play. The Patriots (12-2) take on state No. 3 Wesleyan on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should a good barometer for the Patriots, who could jump into the state rankings with a win. Five days after hosting Wesleyan, Mt. Pisgah will host county rival Fellowship Christian. The Patriots slipped by thePaladins 55-52 back on November 30.
Mt. Pisgah is led by junior Kyle Sloter who is averaging 18.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Sloter has scored 20 points or more in the team's past four games.

Pisgah has two other starters averaging in double figures. Joseph Marco is averaging 10.6 points, to go along with 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Danny Schneider is averaging 10.3 points. Schneider's successful season as a wide reciever on the football team seems to have translated to the basketball court as he lead the Patriots with an 8.9 rebound per game average.
Freshman Devin Peterson has made his impact felt on the team this year averaging a team high three assists per game. Peterson scored a career high 11 points in a 63-39 win over Holy Innocents’. Also against Holy Innocents Sloter added 20 points and Blake Piedrahita finished with 14 points.
The next night against St. Pius, Sloter led the way with 24 points and Schneider finished with 18 points.
The Patriots picked up big wins this year over AAAA South Paulding (57-49) and AAA St. Pius (55-38). Pisgah also has big wins over Excel Christian (78-46) and Greenforest Christian 85-53.
Mt. Pisgah, Wesleyan and Providence Christian will all head into region play this week sporting identical 12-2 overall records.
